Women Spend 627hrs A Year To Look Good

The average woman spends 12 hours and four minutes each week fretting about her appearance, researchers say.

Over a year this adds up to an astonishing 627 hours and 28 minutes – almost an entire month.

It’s not just choosing what to wear. The average woman spends 50 minutes a week picking outfits but even longer, one hour and 32 minutes, worrying if what she has chosen still looks good.

Weight worries are a common concern for many women.

The study of 2,000 women, by Invista, owner of Lycra fabrics, found common concerns include a fear of being too fat or too thin, too bloated, having spotty skin, pale skin or frizzy hair.

Nine out of 10 girls always select an outfit which hides the parts of their body they most dislike.

Even clothes which are not seen can present problems, with women taking up to 39 minutes a week choosing their underwear.
