The woman, whose photo appears with this story, has been confined to bed for the past 12 months while her stomach keeps growing bigger and heavier.
Khanyisile Zungu, 55, from Vlakfontein near Orange Farm, south of Joburg, said she dreamt of eating small bones one night and woke up the following morning with stomach cramps.
And her stomach has kept growing stiffer, bigger and heavier. Khanyisile has spent over R10 000 visiting sangomas and prophets to get help, without success.
“I have been to many hospitals,” she said. “Doctors say they can’t see anything wrong with me after taking X-rays and scans. For the past 12 months, my life has been hell and I don’t know what to do anymore.”
She explained it feels as if there is a heavy stone which moves from one side of her stomach to the other.
“When it starts moving, I go through unbearable pain. Sometimes I can’t lie down or even sit. Life is not worth living for me,” she said.
Khanyisle’s daughter, Nqobile (32) said she has been struggling to help her mum. She has to call a neighbour to help lift her when she wants to go the toilet or when she needs to bath.
They have no money and she is pleading for someone to help her mum. Sangoma Mandla Mnqwazi said Khanyisile needs to consult a sangoma who can reverse her problem before it gets worse.
A doctor who asked not to be named said Khanyisile has abnormalities requiring specialist help and an operation.
