Wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mrs. Ekaete Unoma Akpabio last weekend took a swipe against the opponents of his husband stating that the state government was running out of patience with its critics and opponents. Mrs. Akpabio made the declaration in Uyo on Sunday at the Insight Bible Church, Nsikak Edouk Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State while speaking at the dedication service of Miss Kankima, a daughter of the Chief Press Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Anietie Ukpe.
According to her, “I don’t have that kind of patience like my husband to take insults and abuse, patience is something you cannot toy with because one day it will explode,” adding, “ If you don’t like my face or his face, manage us until we go.’’ Mocking those who are agitating for Akpabio’s exit, the First lady said, “If you don’t like Akpabio, or his style of ruling, have patience, he will soon go, so that you can come and rule, when you finish, we can compare notes.”
She boasted; “you can’t get to Akpabio without getting me…if you don’t praise, we will praise ourselves, whether Akwa Ibom people like it or not.” She queried why politicians in the state are rioting over the governor’s declaration that his successor will come from Eket Senatorial District and wondered whether those who are against this are the owners of Akwa Ibom State.
In her words; “Is the Government House your birthright? You have ruled the State, another person will soon finish and another will take over; are you the owner of Akwa Ibom State? I don’t know where it is going to, but I know it is going to Eket Senatorial District. All the women are following me and I am following the governor.” ‘’Be at peace with yourself; be at peace with your neighbour and with the governor and all will be well”, she counselled.
In his Message: ‘Raising Godly Children’, Senior Pastor of Insight Bible Church, Dr. Silvanus Ukafia stated that God expects us to raise godly children. According to Ukafia, raising godly children takes time and energy as parents are expected to bless their children, train and discipline them as well as give them inheritances. Ukafia noted that God made husbands and wives to become one body and spirit for His purpose so that they would have children who are true to God.
