LAGOS LAWMAKER TASKS FG ON APPROACH TO BOKO HARAM INSURGENCE

The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Strategy, Security and Publicity of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency II, Hon Segun Olulade has charged the Federal Government to employ a result-oriented approach to curbing Boko haram insurgence in most volatile North east states where state of emergency have been declared.

Olulade who condemned the rate of loss of lives of innocent citizens in affected places noted that government can devise a result-oriented approach that will preserve lives particularly of innocent citizens in the country.

The lawmaker was reacting in the wake of recent attack on the Air Force Military base in Maiduguri yesterday where many lives and properties were reportedly lost.

He however challenged the government of President Goodluck Jonathan to summon courage to name the culprit his administration has identified so as to nip the crisis in the bud rather than allow lives to waste as it is currently being witnessed in the country.

“This administration has alleged that there are Boko haram sponsors and high ranking members in its government, even in the military and serving ministers, so I wonder what the government is still waiting for”? “I don’t think that President Jonathan has justification for keeping Boko haram members and sponsors in his cabinet after his public pronouncements that members of the terror group and their sponsors are in his government. He should either name them or show them way out and bring them to book to sanitise the system”. He opined.

Hon. Olulade also advised government to employ community and civil approach in addition to the military approach towards solving the problem.

“Unconsciously, I think the nation is gradually drifting towards serious terror influence if military bases are beginning to come under attack of the insurgent, this is a serious signal towards high level insecurity as masses continue to lose confidence in the ability of this present administration to guarantee security”, Hon. Olulade concluded.
